J has been training under his Sensei to teach the little kids on a Saturday morning. He assists with classes on a Monday and Wednesday, and between himself and another member of the dojo, they run the Saturday classes independently. It is a great opportunity for him to use his natural leadership abilities. He enjoys the challenge of teaching the little people. He will soon be earning himself some pocket money as an instructor. It is good to see him enjoying his karate at a different level and gaining valuable experience, instructing and working with people.
Two weeks ago, K took part in a Kata competition and came third with a bronze medal. J competed last weekend for Provincial trials. He unfortunately fell out after his second fight and lost to the 2nd and 3rd places. He will however still be able to compete nationally for his own style of karate later this year.
